Why do people use MS2003 servers? I really don’t understand why. Maybe to connect all their workstations together since everyone has to use WindozeXP. I use it to play games and maybe read/write the occasional wordprocessor or spreadsheet file. But I had the (un)fortunate luck of having to set up one of these beasts of a server. I have my own servers here that I setup, and one thing I can’t really understand is the need for a whole graphical operating system for a server. It just chews up memory and resources that could be better used for something else. Right? Maybe it’s nice. But then again if you just have the server parse some files into some script (PHP maybe?) then you could get a nice pretty looking sudo-GUI thing as well. (Like my webpage?) Anyways, I got to put this onto a machine and I don’t understand it. Even MS itself says to break up all your server operations onto different machines. For example a domain controller, file/print, email, etc something like that. Anyways, they sell this MS Small Business Server which puts all of that into one machine. Hm… doesn’t that go against what they just said of having it on separate machines? Anyways, this thing took forever just to copy files and what not, I could have built up a linux machine in half the time (I think… ha). I want to see how the Clustered Server Edition does.

マイクロソフトサーバー嫌い・・・インスタールだけ凄い 時間かかる。「バージョンアップ」も時間かかり過ぎ・・・　ゲームとワードとエクセールしかWindows以外使わない。あふ・・・疲れた・・・

Poor server, I feel for you.  サーバーかわいそうな・・・

I was bored and this is something pretty simple to talk about.  I won’t go into much detail but here are some of my servers/pcs that I have on my sudo-server rack (shelf?).  I just actually bought one and need to arrange the shipping for it so I will take a picture of that after it comes in.  But until there, here is a pic of my fiber optic connection that I am using (and my hand) then some of the servers sitting around.
